The Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is a department within the City of Los Angeles that oversees the area’s three major airports. We are run by a seven-member board of airport commissioners who are appointed by the mayor.

LAWA owns and operates Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) - ranked as the seventh busiest in the world and the third busiest in America; Ontario International Airport (ONT) - ranked 59th among all United States airports; and Van Nuys International Airport (VNY) - ranked the busiest general aviation airport and 25th in the world for the number of flight operations.

Each of these airports plays an important role in helping to meet regional demand for passenger, cargo, and general aviation services. When taken as a whole, the airport system provides a high level of safety, security, and service for employees, customers, and stakeholders in the communities we serve.
